WHOA I'm WAY behind!

I think I told you guys to check back for some pictures of what I've been up to!

A popular question from my friends tends to be: "So, besides running, what have you been up to?"

*Crickets*
*Eerie silence*

There's something else other than running? HAHA

Apparently, there is, but not around these parts! My every meal, sleep cycle, and purchase is seeming to revolve around that right now. So Just bear with me here, it MAY come up again!

Here is a text conversation that THOROUGHLY amused me:

I can see now, this is gonna be more of a food blog today. I'm really having to eat a lot! And in a different order. It's throwing me for a loop! I'm supposed to eat breakfast which grieves me deeply! My parents have a nectarine tree though, and I have been enjoying some fresh fruits. I mean, hello Central Valley, we have the best produce in the world available at our fingertips! SEE....?
And not just fruit, but vegetables too. If you think you dislike tomatoes but you've never had a homegrown one, THINK AGAIN! I don't care how ripe or red or whatever, one that comes off the vine of your friends moms tomato plant is the juiciest, meatiest, tastiest thing ever. EVAH! As a close second, have you ever tried heirloom tomatoes?  If not, get your ass to Whole Foods - they are in season now and pretty orgasmic. LOOK at this mountain of heaven!
Last week I made a 5 ingredient pasta that blew my mind! So easy, so tasty! Click here to view the recipes I've posted on Taste Fresno!
Also, I tried the new Eureka! Burger on Palm & Nees. I'm getting tired and don't really feel like writing a full review of the place, I will only say that they are new and have some kinks to work out. And also, I think they were thoroughly befuddled by their own homemade veggie burger. (1) They made it with beets which is disconcerting to see a bright red/purple thing under the bun. (2) It was barely cooked and had the consistency of an avocado, so while the flavor was good, it was mushy and unappetizing!

Yep, that's all I got for now. Ran 11 miles this morning (The furthest EVER!) and now prepping for bed because I need to meet the group tomorrow morning for another 6 miles at 7am!!

Me... the busy little bee! And also a picture of the most miserable bumble bee of all time!

Dude, I've been all over the place this last week!

First, before everything else, have you checked out my 2nd episode of One Heavenly Kitchen? You gotta watch this one because what I plan on doing with the leftovers of this recipe will blow your mind! Tune in and stay tuned please!

Last Thursday, I ventured out and saw a concert at a local venue, Audies Olympic. LITTLE DRAGON!  I was fortunate to see them a few months ago, so when I heard they were coming back to town I made an immediate exception to my, stay in the house til the end of the year rule. You can see some really good pics of the show on Nick Gennock's blog.

Saturday, after many mundane things, I popped over to the tower district for Swede Fest 4. This was my first time going to one of these, but I loved it! Let me tell you what I loved:
1) The Fresno Twitter community is strong! So strong that I actually felt comfortable braving this event alone. I knew quite a few people and that was great!
2) Even though I hadn't seen half the movies they were spoofing, they were hilarious!
3 It's awesome to support people who are doing something different. Something creative. Something extra just for the love of being passionate about something!
4) Even though some of the entries were from Madrid and in Spanish, language didn't mean anything when its the Fresh Prince of BelAir theme song or E.T.  !! SO COOL!

Sunday I could hear all sorts of cheers from my front yard! The 2 cities marathon was running by! Since it was pretty much impossible to drive out of North Fresno, HarMar and I decided to go for a walk and venture out to cheer on the runners. Funny thing - more of the runners cheered at us that we returned the favor. Apparently the cutest dog on earth, wearing an adorable blue bow will catch the attention of anyone - even someone in the throws of near death at the 24 mile marker of a marathon! Wouldn't you yell out too?

I'm sure that would have been enough for the average person, but I wasn't quite feeling enough excitement! What cheers me up? Dressing my dog up in costumes. Feast your eyes on the most MISERABLE bumble bee of all time:

So, what have you been up to? Have any plans for anything exciting?

One Heavenly Kitchen

Hey Hey Everyone, I have exciting news!

For those of you who've been coming around for a while, you may have noticed that nestled in between all the neurosis and sarcasm, there was a pretty strong food theme going.

Well, why not channel that into something more interactive? I've always loved to cook and I've always loved computers, so I decided to make a cooking show! My brother is the camera man and we're having way too much fun!

If you like to eat, please check out my new site One Heavenly Kitchen for weekly videos on what I'm eating and how to make it.

Because it's just a fun side project, it may not have the best designs and graphics, but I hope you enjoy it! Keep me posted on anything you'd like to see me make or what not.

Also, I've been featured on the brand new Taste Fresno site today as a local Fresno foodie/blogger/techie/cook/I don't know - so go check out their new vamped out site too! IT DELICIOUS!

Look, Listen, Learn...

I haven't done a product or place review in a while... So here it goes!

LOOK!

This weekend I took a trip to We Olive in the Fig Garden Village. I just love that place because it has every little thing that I want to taste and cook with and snack on! Besides a bevy of different olive oils, there are dipping oils, spreads, and home marinated olives. Go there, it's heaven.

LISTEN!

WHOA - sorry, that may be a bit of a shock from the We Olive thing, huh? Sorry. If you didn't know, I listen to a pretty wide variety of music. The above picture is of Har Mar Superstar doing his "thang" up on stage. I've seen him twice in concert and this shocking display definitely caught my attention. He's sort of a strange unattractive man that has such confidence, such swagger that all the ladies throw themselves at him. Yeah, even I have a bit of a crush on him. Enough that I named my puppy after him. Hey, who's more of a lady killer than him??

ANYWAYS - I just found out that HarMar Superstar just put out a new album - which I immediately bought on iTunes and it hasn't left my CD player YET! Watch the video if you dare:

LEARN:
Seems like everyone I know has been sick lately *knock on wood* and my plan for health involves MASS amounts of Vitamin C and a revolutionary cureall drink. Walk into the light with me and let's all start drinking KAMBUCHA!!!!!!

I think drinking this is a bit of a cult thing, but count me in as a BELIEVER. When I bought the first bottle, the cashier made a special call to someone who took me into a back room and explained to me all it's magical powers. I've heard everything from it can break a 104 fever to cure cancer. It's sort of fermented and kinda tastes like vinegar, but this isn't helping sell you on it, is it?! OMG! Just try the grape flavored one and let me know what you think! I have like 1/2 a cup a day and I get a burst of energy and feel great and I'm still healthy. RAWK!

OK FOLKS... I'm out. Catch ya later!

Hey Hey - I should be sleeping!

Yeah, I promised myself I'd start getting to bed sooner... So, I am, technically, IN BED, but I thought to myself, Marisa, your loyal readers cannot make it through this week without an update as to the many mundane things you did this weekend.

THEREFORE, MY FRIENDS, I WILL SACRIFICE SLEEP AND GIVE TO YOU A WEEKEND UPDATE!

Well, Friday I cleaned and didn't do much. Saturday I slept until noon which was DIVINE! I went to visit my grandma who has Parkinsons disease. That was hard on me to see and the medication actually makes her a little loopy sometimes which makes it even harder, but it was the right thing to do. I had a rather dramatic experience with my mom at Qdoba, but that's a 20 minute IN PERSON story if you know what I mean!

Don't forget how cute HarMar is when he has full access to the outside, but prefers to lounge in human comfort while LOOKING outside!

Mostly I cleaned and hung out with my parents and we watched that I Am Legend movie which i found to be rather disturbing. Hmpf!

I saw another gorgeous sunset this weekend too! I don't really have any idea how the earth works, but sitting here in my room long enough has allowed my mind to devise a theory that because we are in a valley, something with the air currents happens that makes us have prettier sunsets than any other place. Is that true?

Also, if you haven't heard me mention - I'm sorta kinda maybe quit reading this I don't know making a cooking show. Soooooo uummmmm, I'll be debuting it this next week most likely. Will you watch? OMG I'm so nervous!

Pretend you didn't read that and look at what I ate for dinner tonight instead. This is a panzanella salad topped portobella mushroom.  MMMM

Check back soon for more info. Luv's Ya's!

Hammertime!!

Well, as usual, I'm a terrible blogger and get so busy and into so many projects and work so much that I'm many days late in writing about cool stuff. Will you still pretend to read so I feel good about myself?

Last Monday I went to The Big Fresno Fair again.  I got to see Tone Loc and MC Hammer.

1st, let me say - sometimes it pays to party with your parents. They get the HOOK UP! Sometimes you're with your little brother and your mom wears a fanny pack, but for FREE FOOD, FREE DRINKS, and VIP SEATING (as in so close I was touching the stage!) those things don't matter nearly as much!

What a great show! I think a lot of people have this 80's/90's joke in their head when they think of MC Hammer, but NO WAY! That dude is a performer!

I was also privileged to video tape Mike Oz from The Fresno Beehive as he introduced the performers in his custom made hammer pants and all their glory...

Actually, I'll recommend you just read his post and watch his videos. After all, my seats were so close I really only got videos of everyone's feet. HA HA OMG that was so snobby wasn't it?

Actually, I was busy getting roses from the back up dancers, getting pulled up on stage, and overall being a self made celebutant!

TLTQ!

Weekend Recap - 3 days late... Or maybe I should just title it, "What I've been up to"

People like pictures right? I always try to snap a picture that sums stuff up so I don't have to talk AS much. I do like to talk though! Let's just see how this goes!

I made breakfast for dinner. Biscuits and Gravy might not seem like a big deal to you, but have a vegetarian "gravy" is like a delicacy to me! MMMMMM

I freaked out at someone leaving their nasty hair brush and Aquanet on the bathroom counter in our public and shared restroom. As in LEAVE... as in it's been there for weeks and it's strewn about (obviously used) daily! Keep it classy folks.

I shopped all weekend to decorate a huge display for a work project. A huge space and a "Harvest" theme leads to many interesting conversations when you purchase an entire truckload of hay...

or when you drive a baby car and try to convert it into some sort of Halloween clown car... BEHOLD MY PUMPKINS...

Then my dad and I went to The Big Fresno Fair to see a rap concert... Random... I KNOW RIGHT? We saw "The Game" and it was awesome! Front row tickets, free food, and a great show.  Check out the newest fair treat - The Zucchini Weenie! HA HA!

Check back soon and I'll tell you all about the AWESOME concert I saw last night.  Does HAMMERTIME mean anything to you?  Awwwww Yeeeeaaahhh!

Weekend Update - But not really cool - Or Funny - Or... I don't know just read it okay?

Over at The Beehive they do a "Weekend ReCap" blog. It's quick and I like reading what other people did. Some of it makes me jealous and some of it makes me feel better that they didn't do anything special.

Here's what I did this weekend:

(1) Friday I Cleaned... but more of a spring cleaning (or fall cleaning? that didn't sound right) I cleaned my cleaning caddy, the freezer, the silverware drawer, my closet, my bathroom drawers... I turned that place upside down, but AAAHHHHHH it feels SO GOOD!

(2) Then my roommate came home with some friends to watch a movie. They were FASCINATED with my dinner. I told you I like an antipasti plate. MMMM

(3) Saturday I worked from home for a few hours. I saw Har Mar lounging - he is so cute. He likes to stay inside, but lay in the sun. AWWWW.

(4) I planted a new AeroGarden. This time it's International Basil! OH BOY! I'll keep you posted!

(5) Saturday night I picked up my friend Rebecca and took her to Roe. Her birthday was a week ago, but she was in Disneyland then, so she wanted all her friends to get together here this weekend. As a vegetarian for 7 years now, I never developed a love for sushi, but they had a vegetable roll that I tried. PEW PEW PEW. Seaweed tastes just like rotten fish. UGH! Sorry guys. I don't like coffee either. WILDLY POPULAR, yes!! MY THING, no!! I'll gladly stick to the vegetable tempura and edamame! Glad we were in before 10 though. GEEZ that place charges a $10 cover and is wildly packed!

(6) I am still surprised at how short people are in this town. I'm 5'7", but with 4" heel I'm nearing 6' tall. HAHA. There were only 3 guys in the entire place that could look me in the eye. If I was looking for a man, this would be very depressing.

(7) Sunday I realized it's cold like Alaska here!! Time to break out the electric blanket. I went to my parent's house after running my errands. Had dinner with my mom at Qdoba. It was actually good. She gave me a spare "warming blanket" that she had. Everyone should thank her because there was a high chance I would have died sometime during the night while watching TV on the couch BUT NOW I WILL LIVE! I have the warmth of electricity! YES!

(8) My mom also gave me this mini cherry pie. 1- I love cherry pie (save the innuendo guys...) 2- She originally bought it for my spoiled rotten brothers lunch, so I figured it would be at least THREE TIMES as tasty because I got to take it from him! However, my mom wanted to open it to see what it looked like inside. OF COURSE, as soon as I try to unload my car, the pie FLIES OUT the opening and meets it's early demise. :( NOOOOOOOOO!

SO ANYWAYS, that was my weekend in a nutshell - and even with a few pictures.

Let me leave you with an adorable pic of my little man chillin' on the couch!
Say it with me.
Awwwwwwwwwwww!

Picture show

Well, I don't think I've been up to too much lately, but I do like to document things... so besides scouring my house from head to toe and running a bunch of errands just look...

I saw a beautiful sunset over Woodward Park...

HarMar kept a close eye on the EVIL steam cleaner for me. I put it in the hallway and found him sitting next to it for 15 minutes! He really really hates that thing.

I'm obsessed with heirloom tomatoes and have been enjoying some caprese.

Well, everything else was just pictures of what I've eaten. Are people really interested in just seeing pictures of what I eat? I don't think so...

Anyways... What've you been up to?

Cake Wrecks - Fresno Edition

For those of you unfamiliar, Cake Wrecks is like THE MOST awesome blog. I especially love it because I like to cook and I think things taste better when they look pretty. Go check it out sometimes.

Anyways, I was at a local grocery store when I saw THIS:

Any comments? I'd imagine that if bumble bees had wheels and then you smooshed them flat this is what the guts of a wheeled bee would like like.

OR if you think the above wasn't quite SMOOSHED enough... what about this?

Well, I found it amusing. Thought I'd share!

The Mad Duck

So I recently saw a new place going up over nextdoor to Sequoia Sandwich there in the Target parking lot on the corner of Willow / Herndon.

Besides being completely food motivated, I can enjoy a good brew too! Gotta admit, I'm excited to try this place when it opens up! Who wants to go with me?

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Oh really?

For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of a nature freak. I take more pride than I can explain to you in coming home from multiple stores and having nothing to throw away! I bring canvas bags with me and even mesh bags for my vegetables. I HATE waste and actually have intense energy directed at baggers and cashiers who can't figure out how to do it right.

Actually, I just had a gathering at my house last weekend and everyone kept asking me for paper plates and cups so they didn't dirty any dishes. OMG, PLEASE DIRTY A DISH rather than throw something away. I forced everyone to use real stuff. 5 minutes of extra work is nothing, geez!

Also, Fresno has been really big on their "Buy Local" campaign. I agree with this. I like feeling like I'm a part of something and doing something good. Plus, here in Fresno, the fruit basket of the world, buying vegetables and fruit from local farms is diverse, affordable, and awesome! When I saw this sign at Vons I was so happy since I needed squash anyways:

HOWEVER, upon further inspection, I think someone needs a geography lesson. Either that or it's A LOT smaller world than I originally imagined:

HA HA HA! OH REALLY? This is considered LOCAL? ALL OF NORTH AMERICA? UH HUH...

Low brow and above the bar...

So I was girly'ing it up last weekend and decided to go to the mall. I had some MAC makeup to recycle and needed a couple things.

On my way through the make-up section, I was stopped by a carni lovely lady who asked if I knew that Benefit makeup now had a eyebrow and lip waxing station... They call it the Benefit bar. No, Jolena, I did NOT know that! So, being that it was my birthday week, I thought, WHY NOT!?

There are varying prices, but pros would be:

• No appointments necessary
• Brow and Lip wax was $27 but that also includes retouching of your makeup
• Quick, professional, and painless

I'm sold. Plus, I wound up buying several of their products and I absolutely love Benefit makeup now. I've always only used Mac makeup, but that stuff has a bit too much the whore flair, so Benefit is awesome because it's got a really light natural feel to it which is more my style.

Hopefully, you will take a chance and give it a try. I give the whole experience two thumbs up.

Part 2 - The Excited

So yesterday we covered the hardest part of my day which is getting out of my head and getting out of the house... so let's see, where were we? Oh yeah, Memorial Day Weekend!!

Friday night I met up with friends and we enjoyed bottle service at The Standard. It was nice, but we were on the front patio which left us separated from the music and trapped with the smokers. Plus, I wasn't so into drinking and honestly didn't have that great of a time. My friend Phil and I shared some casual observations, but I was ready to go home.

Saturday after a harrowing experience for HarMar at the vet, I cleaned the house, and Des and I headed off to eat some Pho at New Stars. Then we went to our friend Johns graduation party. That was fun, but I'm still an old lady and despite great chips & salsa, a vodka red bull, and a free shot of Patron - I got tired and we went home to go to bed.

Sunday morning Des & I stumbled out into the hallway at the same time and she suggested we go for a walk. I needed that walk. I grabbed a sandwich and then I went and did one of the bravest things of my life. I went somewhere ALONE. No safety net. No possible idea of what to expect. AND where everyone else already knows each other. My entire plan involved sitting in the corner and use my iPhone for the next several hours.

To my most pleasant surprise I was taken by the hand and welcomed into the Antidote group! There was awesome house music, lots of drinks, great weather, and a phenomenal group of people! I had so much fun. Shoot, I think my name was even scrawled on a "GUEST LIST" so basically, I was a veritable celebrity! Daytime drinking is an acquired art though. Have enough drinks and this old lady needs to go home and take a nap. I HIT MY COUCH RUNNING AND TOTALLY CRASHED OUT!

I woke up just in time to make a delicious taco dinner head back out to see Little Dragon. It was just about the coolest thing ever. After Antidote and thanks to Twitter I'm pretty sure I knew or knew of 50% of the people in the room. This is where my reporting gets faulty. I really stopped worrying about writing stuff down and memorizing important details and linking to stuff. Instead, I FELT IT.

You know those moments when you are driving alone in the car and your favorite song comes on? Those seconds where your problems accidentally fly out the window? Time comes to a screeching halt and sound isn't just something you hear, but instead something you do. It's the something that tickles your nose and brushes against your skin and tastes like heaven.

I don't want to say anything more about it. Here's one of their songs... Listen... Feel... Take a Journey...

PS: If you want a really good and serious review of the show, Go Here.

Dang, this is a lot of work. Can I get some feedback here?

So, I'm struggling with this whole "city blog" thing. I'm no journalist. I don't want to be troubled with linking to others posts and be all responsible about accuracy with times and such. Can't I just say, "Dude, I like this. Here's how it made me feel. Just go there." ?? That would be easy. Now half of my wonder and grand fascination with my comings and goings are dampened because I feel like I need to pretend I'm a reporter or something.

Plus, I suck. Like, here I go to the Blogger Olympics and I didn't even write a post about my epic loss! Also, I wrote this whole thing about Pizza & Beer at Pizza Fusion and didn't even mention the PIZZA!! I even got an honorable mention for last weeks "goings on" over at FresnoMagBlog and didn't even say Thank you. Are you understanding my suckiness yet?

Then, last week, my real dad shows up at my work unannounced. I have A MILLION feelings about this and I wanted to write it out, but then I was like - dangit - now all these real people who might know me are going to read this and changing my blog focus sort of took from me my personal voice. Sigh.

I need feedback. Am I doing the right thing? I realize it's in its beginning stages and will slowly find it's groove, but is it okay to just do whatever I want? Does random pics, sad overly personal revelations, and product reviews go together? HELP!

Pizza & Beer - MMMMMM

I don't know if you've had a chance to eat at a Pizza Fusion yet, but YOU NEED TO!

This is my favorite place to eat right now! It's really no where in the scope of where I go in this town, but it's SO worth the drive over there!

I'm in love with every aspect! Delicious food, earth friendly, and even vegan options!

Here's what you HAVE to do:

1) GO THERE!!
2) ORDER ANYTHING!! MUST HAVES are the flat bread trio (w/ tapenade!) and the pear and gorgonzola salad.

I just recently attended an event there sponsored by New Belgium Beer. For $4 you got to taste all of New Belgiums brews (Which are on tap at Pizza Fusion), snack on delicious fresh pizza, and keep the New Belgium glass! It was so much fun!

Best part is, they are going to do this again on the 28th. I'm so there!

Talkin' about Tower

Alright people - this is for all my Fresno peeps...

I read a lot of elitist snobby things on my twitter stream and even in my own blog comments about how you hate the north side and only love Tower... GAWD you people love the fucking Tower district. You all make it seem like I've never been there, but I got news for you, I'm older than half of you and have been going there since some of you were in junior high!

Yes, I live in north Fresno at Woodward Lakes, but that doesn't mean I only hang out here. I just write this blog reppin' the north side because I want you to know we have cool stuff too!

GASP, you mean you can get quaint and culture north of Herndon and not everything is plastic Stepford Wives and single occupied gas guzzing SUV's? Yup, that's right! WE ARE SLAYING GEOGRAPHICAL STEREOTYPES HERE AT It's worth recording... !!!

So, here are some things you may not know about me and my Tower district history:

•I met my (now ex) husband on the patio of the Java Cafe in 1996.
•I bought my 1st pair of steel-toed 20 eyelet Grinders from Valentino's in 1997
•I got my tongue pierced from Jerry at Spears of Shiva all by myself when they were still on the North side of Olive in late 1997/early 1998.

What else do you want to know about? I've done the drinks and appetizers at Livingstones, pool and drinks and pizza at Avalon (Now Babylon), dancing in the streets at mardi gras, the patio at Veni's, the dining at Palomino's and Rousseaus and everywhere, the New Years parties and open mics and poetry jams at Starline, the lunch at Peimonte's, and everything else you can think of.

SO FRESNO PEOPLE... What do you want from me? To listen to local bands at Bobby Salazars? Have lunch at Irene's? Watch a show at Roger Rocka's? Buy something at Retro Rags? OH WAIT, I've done that TOO!

So, this may seem like a bit of an aggressive blog, but I just hate the patronizing "You should come to tower" comments. Like that's the only place that privately owned businesses can operate. Like that's the only place you can walk on the streets or find unique purchases or see a good show. Like only places south of Shaw offer good service - wrong! Wrong! WRONG!

So thanks for letting me say my peace. I hope this post helps us all come together and roam this town with wild abandon. LET'S TEAR THE WALLS DOWN!! I hope to see you out there!

Pho Sho !!!!!

I have an anniversary coming up. I wish I would have written down the exact date, but to the best of my calculations, June will start my 7th year of being a vegetarian. It's a long story that I get many questions about. Mostly, people want to know why and I'll just say: ALL THE REASONS.

•It's unhealthy
•It's bad for the economy
•It's inhumane

Anyways, even though I am a strict vegetarian, I am a meat lover. I have every type of fake meat product in my fridge! I don't eat gelatin, fish, or stock which includes many soups, pilafs, caesar dressing, and even gummy bears. Most things I can replicate at home, HOWEVER, there are some things you just can't get. Fresno has really made some great advancements with Trader Joe's and Whole Foods and hell, even regular grocery stores can carry vegetarian products now, BUT...

As you can imagine, even though I love to cook, sometimes I just want to go out and get a good meal and not have to worry and quiz my waiter/waitress about how the food is made.

That's why I was so happy with the addition of New Stars Vegetarian. New Stars is at Champlain/Perrin in the FIVE and Sequoia Brewing parking lot. Unfortunately, their hours aren't the best - they close early at 9pm and are closed on Sunday-Tuesday, but PLEASE GO THERE! Most veg places go so hardcore that they go vegan! MARISA ALSO LOVES CHEESE AND BUTTER!! So New Stars has a selection of vegan, vegetarian, and even imitation meat products. They have all types of things, but mostly the fare is asian related.

Here's the whole reason of this post - THEY HAVE PHO !!!!!

I've been dying for Pho for YEARS now. I went this last Saturday and had some. It was PHENOMENAL. Anyone, call me and we'll go. I think I'm addicted. I could eat it every freakin' day. EVERY. DAY.

CALL ME... SERIOUSLY... I'M HUNGRY AGAIN...

Teazers Schmeazers - E.M.W. Tea is where it's at!

OOHHHHHH YEAH, I SAID IT!! I said it and everyone in Fresno just did a collective cringe. You people love that Teazers place. Actually, I've never been there, so my crap talking doesn't hold much validity. Since we're friends, I'll let you in on a little secret: I don't even like tea! I'm more of a Mtn Dew girl if you can imagine that!

However, I think you all need to take a little trip to the north side. We have a tea place too and I come here often!

E.M.W. Tea is located on the South West corner of Champlain and Perrin. It's in the Savemart and Campagnia parking lot.

To save you hours of contemplation, EMW stands for East Meets West. (Took me forever to figure that out!)

There are so many cool things about this place. I think it's deserving of bullet points.

  • They are open late! Sunday - Thursday 11am - 10pm and Friday - Saturday 11am - 11pm.

  • There are cute little seats outside.

  • Besides rows and rows of teas to choose from, they also have slushies, and my new obsession BOBA!

  • The most expensive thing on the menu is $4, the slushies are only $1, and with the card every 6th one is free!!

  • They have THE COOLEST lid maker. My friends no longer enjoy going with me because I get SOO excited about this sealer thing. I tried to take a video of it, but I chickened out at the last minute. JUST GO SEE IT FOR YOURSELF!

  • Head on back and there are cute little chairs and couches and a TV with board games and video games.

  • The greatest Super Nintendo Tetris Attack player of all time, Roger, will come out from behind the counter and destroy any sense of pride, skill, or self esteem you considered having. Okay, that one may not be a selling point, but it was memorable that's for sure!

  • Roger, the self-esteem slayer from above is on twitter! Follow him @emwtea

What are you waiting for!?!? Come check this place out! I recommend the Thai Iced Tea with Boba. MMMMM

I'm so chill...

..ed to the bone 24 hours a day. Do you understand how uncomfortable it is to be cold all the time?

Text conversation this morning:

FRIEND: Got cool last night.

ME: Oh Geez, I better bring a jacket! It’s only gonna be 73 today!

FRIEND: Ha Ha that was funny! You were trying to be funny, right?

ME: LOL Ummm should I take this jacket off then?

Yeah yeah, I know people laugh at me. People in Wisconsin are probably happy if it breaks 50 degrees and I’ve got goose bumps if it dips under 80.

AH WELL, what’re ya gonna do? I guess move to one of the few places in California (that's not the desert) where temperatures can reach a sweltering 115 degrees. I'll be revising this post and cursing the sun at an unnamed later date. (Or going up to the lake a lot. Hopefully my parents get the houseboat/speedboat/jetskis all ready soon. I can't wait!)

I love Fresno!
